Approximately 143 million orphans in the world. We can't provide a family for all of them, but we can for one, and one life changed makes a significant difference.

my theology

Ok, I know I JUST posted but I have one more thought to share and then I am going to bed!

I believe in....and find hope and peace and joy in....a sovereign God. I love this song by Jeremy Riddle (as well as all his others....he holds my personal "favorite artist of the year" award for three years in a row now):

God Moves in a Mysterious Way

God moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform
He plants His footsteps in the sea
And rides upon the storm

Deep in unsearchable mines
Of never failing skill
He treasures up His bright designs
And works His sovereign will

Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take
The clouds you so much dread
Are big with mercy and shall break
In blessing, in blessing
In blessing on your head

Judge not the Lord by feeble sense
But trust Him for His grace
Behind a frowning providence
He hides a smiling face

His purposes will ripen fast
Unfolding every hour
The bud may have a bitter taste
But sweet will be the flower

Blind unbelief is sure to err
And scan His work in vain
God is His own interpreter
And He will make it plain

In His own time
In his own way....

The chorus says that the clouds are big with mercy and shall break in blessing... I don't believe that the blessing is necessarily getting what we want. The blessing is His purpose being fulfilled and Him receiving glory. And that is our ultimate desire.

Good night.

  2. Audrey,
Last Monday morning, during Devotions at Samaritan's Purse, Kenny Isaac's walked to the front of the room, and through the knot in his throat, and the tears in his eyes, he simply said, "She's free". The room erupted into cheers and tears and great rejoicing began. The next morning during Devotions, the speaker walked to the front of the room and asked the questions, "What was different about God yesterday when Flavia Wagner was released in Sudan after being held hostage for 105 days?" "How was God different yesterday than He was on May 18 when the hostages were taken and we all cried out to God wondering how could He let this happen?" The answer, of course, is there was nothing different about God. God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. He is sovereign and in control of all things, all the time.

The difference is our attitude. God remains the same, yet our attitude towards Him may changed based on our circumstances. Audrey, you and Michael have had a Christ-like attitude throughout this whole adoption process (Phil 2:1-5), even as I (and others I know) have cried out and asked God "why, after all this time have they now received a "no" judgment? How can You let this happen?" I am reminded that our God, who was there when you began this process, was there when you received the "no" ruling, and He will be there as you continue on this journey.

God is amazing, and He will reveal His plan, at just the right time, and rejoicing will begin.

    You, are loved.
